Based at One Lochrin Square in Edinburgh, Sharktower is the world’s first data and AI-led project management software platform which provides predictive analytics and bias-free decision making. Just like a Shark tower on a beach, the platform helps companies to keep an eye on the horizon for any potential dangers during their project delivery.
The business has recently created 38 new jobs in Edinburgh after being awarded a £2.6 million R&D grant from the Scottish Government as part of a larger £6.9m investment to build the Sharktower platform. Current turnover is £1.5m with a monthly burn rate of £350k/month, however given the rate of development and client uptake, the company is steadily working towards breaking even by the end of 2020.

Chief Financial Officer
The role of CFO is an integral part of the team and will be a direct support to the Managing Director (MD) and senior leadership team. The role will support the rapid growth of the company with robust and effective management reporting, systems and processes. The CFO will be involved in the commercial development of the business supporting the MD in engagement with clients and investors and will support the wider business from a commercial, governance, risk and controls perspective.
The role represents a fantastic opportunity for a motivated finance leader who wants to work for a business that have a viable product and are in a very exciting stage of their growth story. In addition, the company will provide a firm career platform with a great opportunity for personal and professional development.
It is likely that the individual is a seasoned Finance Director or CFO, but the role may suit a high calibre Financial Controller from a high growth organisation seeking their first opportunity in a lead finance and operations role. They will be comfortable working in a demanding environment and can develop, implement and manage effective changes across the business. It will be essential that the successful candidate can provide significant support to the MD from a commercial analysis perspective, whilst overseeing the company’s financial operation and implement a measured dashboard of financial and business KPIs.
It is critical that the person will be accustomed to working within a PE backed or investor led environment that requires an appetite for calculated risk whilst acting as the custodian for the business at all times.
Sharktower are currently embarking upon a very positive point in their growth story and it is important that the successful candidate is bringing a founder mentality to the business where they have the courage to make key decisions quickly and also be able to recognise an opportunity or point in time where the business or product requires to pivot in order to continue its long term growth strategy. Given the expected increase in headcount, it is essential that the successful candidate is very clear in their communications to the business and contributes effectively to develop an environment of operational excellence.
