Andrew is one of our expert recruiters at iMultiply. Having joined the business in 2013, he takes pride in delivering excellent customer service and loves connecting talented people to great opportunities. Andrew is currently Head of iMultiply’s Industry and Commerce Division, leading teams across Edinburgh and Glasgow, which makes it only right that he is the first in our ‘Meet the Team’ series.
What area of the market do you specialise in?
I specialise in the part-qualified to 2-3 years post qualified market. I enjoy covering this area of the market as I feel the moves people make at this time in their career can really shape their future.
Working in this area also allows me to work with a range of different businesses. I particularly enjoy working with growing SMEs. Culture is key in these businesses and they are always flexible with their approach to finding the right person to ensure they add to the culture of the business.
What 3 things do you enjoy most about what you do?
Helping People – There is no better feeling than when you offer a candidate their ideal job. You really feel like you’ve had a positive impact on their life. That’s pretty special!
Professional & Personal Development – I feel like I am always learning about new businesses in markets I didn’t know existed and I’m constantly working with people of different backgrounds. Every day I am broadening my knowledge by working with these people and continuously developing my understanding.
Our Team Environment – It’s a great job but I wouldn’t fancy doing it all myself. Over the years I have worked with some amazing people and in general, it’s a laugh a minute working with this bunch.
Tell us about your proudest professional achievement.
I was lucky enough to be shortlisted for the consultant of the year in the 2020 S1 awards. I was initially nominated for this award by candidates I have work with.
Also, each quarter iMultiply awards a values champ. This is an internal peer vote to find out who everyone feels has been demonstrating the company’s values. I’m lucky to have been awarded this on a couple of occasions. Being acknowledged by my team for going about my job in the right way makes me feel very proud.
What advice would you give to people looking for a new role?
I would say try to understand why it is you want to move and when it comes to your search try not to compromise those reasons too much. Also, stay motivated and proactive, if you don’t succeed the first time around, utilise feedback and try again.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I like my food! Pre pandemic you would catch me trying out new food joints almost every weekend. During this pandemic, there have been some great popups for takeaway in Edinburgh too. Some of my favourites were The Nauticus Hatch and The Little Chartroom on the Porty prom. I like to try and recreate some of my favourites at home as well although I’m better at the eating part.

Integrity – I believe in an ‘honesty is the best policy’ approach. Sometimes a hard truth can be as helpful to a candidate or a business as telling them what they want to hear.
