THE ROLE
This role is pivotal at the heart of the organisation's financial governance, overseeing group financial reporting, controls, and technical accounting in a complex environment. You will be the primary reviewer ensuring reports are accurate, compliant, and audit-ready. You will embed controls, lead the external audit process, and challenge complex accounting judgements like IFRS 16 and revenue recognition. The role involves shaping control frameworks, managing risk, and supporting ongoing system transformations, particularly SAP implementation. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will work closely with operational teams, external auditors, and senior leadership to safeguard balance sheet integrity and drive continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing independent review of monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring IFRS/UK GAAP compliance.
- Embedding and testing financial controls, tracking remediation of deficiencies.
- Leading balance sheet reviews, deep dives, and risk assessments.
- Managing external audit arrangements and statutory reporting.
- Challenging complex accounting areas, documenting processes, and ensuring audit readiness.
- Supporting ERP upgrades and data quality initiatives supporting SAP migration.
- Collaborating with cross-entity teams to ensure governance and controls are maintained across a multi-site, international group.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive financial controller for a fast-paced group operating across various jurisdictions. The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and control-driven mindset.
Mandatory:
- Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA within a group or multi-entity environment.
- 5+ years PQE with experience in IFRS and UK GAAP reporting, including complex areas like IFRS 16.
- Proven ability to review and challenge financial statements and accounting estimates.
- Experience in financial controls design, testing, and remediation aligned with SOX/ICFR.
- ERP systems experience, especially SAP, Navision, or InforBI, with exposure to migrations.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting M&A integrations and restructuring.
- Knowledge of automation, RPA, or AI driving financial process improvements.
- Understanding of auditing and controls frameworks beyond IFRS, such as FCA compliance.
- Data analysis skills using Power BI, SQL, or similar tools.
ON OFFER
The organisation offers a permanent, flexible hybrid working model (onsite, remote, hybrid). Salary is in the range of £65,000–£75,000 plus benefits, commensurate with experience. The role provides exposure to strategic finance transformation projects including ERP upgrades, systemautomation, and risk management processes.
