THE ROLE
This role is central to the organisation’s financial analysis, reporting, and strategic decision-making. The Business Performance Accountant will act as a key business partner to operational teams, assisting with budgeting, forecasting, project costs, and performance analysis. The successful candidate will produce insights that influence commercial decisions, support process automation, and enhance data quality. They will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to ensure financial targets are met and key projects are financially viable.
• Support senior management with management accounts, variance analysis, and key business metrics
• Partner with operational teams across manufacturing and clinical projects to optimise pricing, costs, and profitability
• Develop mechanisms for contract performance reviews and project costing validation
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, including scenario and sensitivity analysis
• Support project finance and grant reporting activities, ensuring compliance and accuracy
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, automating reporting and enhancing data quality
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
A proactive, detail-oriented finance professional with strong analytical skills and business acumen will thrive here. The role requires clear communication, stakeholder management, and an ability to translate complex financial data into practical insights.
Mandatory:
- 3+ years’ experience in management accounting, financial analysis, or cost accounting within manufacturing or similar sectors
- Strong competence in Excel, with experience in Power BI or similar tools preferred
- Proven ability to produce management reports, variance analysis, and support budgeting/forecasting processes
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, comfortable communicating with non-finance teams
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
- Relevant qualification or part-qualified status (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or equivalent experience
Preferred:
- Experience working with project finance, grant reporting, or contract performance review models
- Knowledge of ERP systems and automation of reports
- Exposure to manufacturing cost drivers and operational KPIs
- Familiarity with UK GAAP, IFRS, or FRS 102 standards

- Salary circa £55,000–£60,000 depending on experience and qualifications
