THE ROLE
The Business Advisory Manager in Glasgow will work closely with Client Relationship Managers to deliver high-quality, profitable work for a diverse client portfolio. Responsibilities include managing the delivery of management accounts, year-end accounts, tax returns, VAT, budgets, and forecasts.
The role involves reviewing work of assistants and seniors, developing strong client relationships, and coordinating with specialists to identify cross-selling opportunities. You will also handle client queries, manage fee proposals, WIP, and debt recovery. The position offers a chance to influence business growth, mentor junior team members, and develop leadership skills within a supportive environment.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of client projects, ensuring on-time, profitable completion
- Review and coach assistants and seniors on technical work, ensuring quality standards are met
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, contacts, and internal teams
- Engage with specialists to deliver advisory services and identify cross-selling opportunities
- Manage client onboarding, fee proposals, WIP, and debt recovery processes
- Play a key part in the growth of your own client portfolio, with the potential to manage your own list
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will be a proactive leader, with excellent communication skills and a passion for professional development. They will have relevant experience, a professional qualification, and an eagerness to embrace new technologies and systems. This role is ideal for someone looking to progress into more senior management responsibilities while maintaining a hands-on, client-focused approach.
Mandatory:
- Professional qualification (ICAS or ACCA)
- Relevant experience in a similar advisory or accounting role
- Strong IT skills and familiarity with accounts and tax software
- Ability to manage a diverse client portfolio and lead a team
Preferred:
- Experience in using clients’ accounting systems and ERP systems
- Knowledge of management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Proven track record of nurturing client relationships and identifying growth opportunities
