The Role
As a Client Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of clients, ensuring their accounting needs are met accurately and promptly. Your role involves preparing year-end accounts, corporation tax returns, and management accounts, while maintaining strong client relationships. You will also be responsible for reviewing work, identifying new opportunities, and supporting team collaboration.

The Role
As a Client Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of clients, ensuring their accounting needs are met accurately and promptly. Your role involves preparing year-end accounts, corporation tax returns, and management accounts, while maintaining strong client relationships. You will also be responsible for reviewing work, identifying new opportunities, and supporting team collaboration.
- Lead the preparation of year-end accounts on IRIS for clients with turnovers of £100k-£2m.
- Complete corporation tax and self-assessment returns for clients and directors.
- Review and peer assess quarterly, and annual accounts prepared by colleagues.
- Manage VAT returns and other compliance tasks as required.
- Act as the primary contact for designated clients, ensuring timely responses and profitability.
- Conduct pre- and post-year-end meetings, review pricing, identify cross-selling opportunities, and oversee workflow efficiency.
- Prepare management accounts within agreed timescales, attending client meetings when appropriate.
- Maintain Xero certification and leverage experience with add-ons like Dext, Futrli, and EPOS systems.
- Foster continuous process improvements and ensure AML procedures are followed.
- Undertake additional ad hoc tasks as directed by senior management.
The Ideal Candidate
You should be a motivated accounting professional with experience managing client portfolios and a strong grasp of UK accounting standards.
Mandatory:
- Minimum 2 years’ practice or industry experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Part-qualified or fully qualified
- Knowledge of VAT procedures and compliance.
- Proficient with Xero and related add-ons (Dext, Futrli, EPOS).
- Strong Excel skills, including advanced functions and automation experience.
- Demonstrable ability to manage client relationships profitably and efficiently.
