Overview of the role
The Senior Accounting Manager plays a central role in managing a diverse client portfolio and delivering accurate financial reporting. You will oversee full accounting cycles, lead audits and statutory reporting, and contribute to practice growth through client development and team leadership. Your insight will help clients meet regulatory requirements and make informed commercial decisions under UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Manage a varied client portfolio, delivering management and statutory accounts.
- Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Lead audit engagements and act as the key point of contact for external auditors.
- Coach and develop junior team members, ensuring high technical standards.
- Identify opportunities to expand client services and support business growth.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
Ideal profile
You bring strong technical capability, sound judgment, and a consultative approach to client service. You are comfortable balancing multiple priorities and leading by example:
- ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent qualification.
- At least 5 years’ experience managing client portfolios within practice or consultancy.
- Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and statutory reporting.
- Proven experience managing audits, financial statements, and compliance processes.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Clear, confident communication with clients and senior stakeholders.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
- Exposure to automation initiatives or process improvement projects.
- Working knowledge of tax advisory, VAT, or corporate finance services.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills (inc. Power BI).
- Experience supporting clients across multiple sectors.
