The opportunity
As an Audit Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of not-for-profit audits, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and relevant standards. You will lead audit planning, supervise junior team members, and review financial statements, driving quality in every engagement. Your role is pivotal in building strong client relationships, managing regulatory expectations, and contributing to the firm’s growth. With your expertise, you’ll help shape audit strategies, improve processes, and mentor emerging professionals.
- Lead and manage multiple high-quality audit engagements in social and not-for-profit sectors
- Supervise audit teams, review work, and ensure compliance with ISA, UK GAAP, and IFRS standards
- Prepare and review statutory accounts, working papers, and audit documentation
- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively with stakeholders
- Stay updated on regulations such as AML, anti-bribery, and other compliance requirements
- Support business development and strategic initiatives within the team
Your background
You pride yourself on delivering audits that uphold the highest standards of quality and compliance. With a strong background in not-for-profit or public sector audits, you are skilled at managing teams and stakeholder relationships, and you thrive in a busy, collaborative environment.
Mandatory
- ACA, ACCA, ICAEW qualification, or overseas equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years in external audit, with significant not-for-profit or public sector experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, FRS 102, FRS 101, and ISA standards.
- Proven experience managing audit teams and client relationships.
- Proficiency in audit software like CaseWare, IDEA, and Excel.
- Knowledge of AML, anti-bribery, and compliance regulations.
Preferred
- Experience with audit automation tools (Power BI, Tableau) and data analytics
- Familiarity with charity SORP and sector-specific accounting standards
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Agresso
- Background in audit system implementations or transformations
- Ability to work in dynamic, agile teams and manage multiple deadlines
