The Role

The role involves overseeing the preparation of year-end financial statements, managing high-level reviews of management accounts and VAT returns, and supporting strategic advisory projects. You will supervise junior staff, ensure compliance with UK standards, and nurture strong client relationships. Your expertise will contribute to delivering exceptional service while driving team performance and process improvements.
Key responsibilities:
  • Supervise and review year-end statutory financial statements for varied entities.
  • Conduct high-level reviews of management accounts and VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage advisory projects, such as strategic accounting or business support initiatives.
  • Oversee workload distribution, meet tight deadlines, and mentor junior team members.
  • Liaise with tax, audit, and compliance departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Support business development and client relationship management efforts.
Ideal Candidate
  • Proven experience in reviewing statutory financial statements and management accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and FRS 102.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Xero or similar MTD bookkeeping software.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and lead a team effectively.
  • Experience with other accounting packages like Sage, QuickBooks, or Oracle.
  • Knowledge of trust, charity, or LLP accounting frameworks.
  • Familiarity with audit support protocols and process improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities, including pivot tables and data analysis.
  • Engagement in client development or business growth activities.
