Maria’s career journey has been anything but ordinary. From navigating student life in a different country to managing high‑pressure diplomatic schedules and eventually discovering her passion for recruitment in Scotland. Maria’s story is both compelling and deeply inspirational.
From Greece to Vienna: Where It All Began
Maria’s career started with a degree in Business Administration in Greece, where she first became fascinated by company culture, communication, and the relationship between employees and employers. With a love for languages and a desire to live abroad, she moved to Vienna to pursue postgraduate studies in Public Relations entirely in German (and often in Austrian dialect).
Despite the challenge, she pushed through, attending language classes in the mornings and lectures in the afternoons. Her time there taught her how to communicate with intention, understand perspectives, and represent organisations with integrity.
Moving to Scotland & Discovering Recruitment
Maria decided to move to Scotland in 2007, where she pivoted from Public Relations and instead used her German language skills to join a call centre supporting major global brands.
Maria quickly progressed into a Team Leader role, which included managing a multilingual team and working alongside recruiters.
It was here that Maria first discovered her natural ability to spot talent, support individuals through career decisions, and build strong relationships – skills that would shape the rest of her career.
She stepped into her first agency role and immediately realised she had found her professional home. Recruitment combined everything she loved: meaningful conversations, understanding people’s motivations, and guiding them toward opportunities that fit.
Joining iMultiply: A Perfect Match
When Maria learned about iMultiply, something clicked. After meeting Richard, Andrew, and later Kris, she knew this was where she wanted to be.
Two and a half years later, she’s still thriving.
Maria now works as Talent Acquisition Manager, specialising in interim finance roles across Scotland. In this position, she has developed a strong reputation for her thoughtful and supportive approach towards candidates and her ability to match them with opportunities that genuinely align with their goals.
Candidates that have worked with Maria are equally as impressed:
Maria’s an absolute rockstar and extremely supportive every step of the way. I’m grateful to have had to opportunity to work with her while on my job hunt as a new Edinburgh resident. Her advice was stellar and her responses were consistent, fast, and full of professionalism and quality. – Iulia Munteanu
