Dovecot Studios – Head of Finance and Resources

Dovecot is the UK’s oldest and largest tapestry studio. It is part of a centre for contemporary art, craft and design in the heart of Edinburgh, which makes a global contribution to UK and Scottish culture. Dovecot tapestries are not only the most ambitious fine art textiles being created in the UK today but also the most exciting tapestries collected by museums and galleries internationally. Head of Finance and Resources – This role may be split into the following areas of focus:

Financial performance, budget planning and strategy  (40%)

Financial reporting & bookkeeping  (25%)

Governance and compliance  (10%)

Strategic Management & Maintenance of Resources  (20%)

Additional General Responsibilities (5%)

The Head of Finance & Resources is a member of Dovecot’s Senior Management Team with responsibility for Dovecot’s accounting and financial management. Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for annual budgeting help develop the business plan with the Head of Commercial & Operations. You will be responsible for management and statutory accounts, as well as internal control & reporting. There is an annual statutory audit.

The job requires some knowledge of charity accounting (SORP) and tax; you’ll work with external advisers on these and manage a part-time bookkeeper.

The Head of Finance & Resources will also work alongside the Building Manager to maintain Dovecot’s premises to a high standard.

The ideal candidate will be:

ACCAB qualified accountant or equivalent QBE (qualified by experience) with 5 years’ experience and  demonstrable success in financial administration and book-keeping.
