Having opened in October 2015 CodeClan is the first digital skills academy in Scotland. Backed by Skills Development Scotland, Scottish Government, ScotlandIS and the Scottish Qualifications Authority, They are a social enterprise company set up to address the technology skills gap in Scotland.
They have developed a unique, immersive software development course that supports people from non-IT backgrounds to accelerate their career into tech roles. The course produces employable, entry-level developers with a solid understanding of software development techniques including object-oriented programming and test-driven development, delivered through best practice and cutting-edge technologies. Students are exposed to Agile methodologies and are continually engaged in individual and collaborative group assignments. This approach enables them to rapidly integrate into and be productive within a wide variety of business and technical environments.

Finance and Operations Director
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Finance and Operations Director will will manage all aspects of CodeClan’s finances and operations. is a full-time executive role and the individual will be expected to participate on our Executive Team (Strategy and HR), Leadership Team (Execution and Management), Partner Advisory Boards, and attend outside events on behalf of CodeClan. This is a managerial role having 5 direct reports; Operational and Finance Support Assistant, Departmental Operations Co-Ordinator, Head of Talent, Head of Admissions and other operational staff as required.
This role will work closely with the CEO on strategic planning, growth and personnel issues and work day-to-day with the Executive Team on maintaining financial governance for the smooth operations of the business. This role will be a part of the Executive Team and attend CodeClan board meetings, presenting financials and growth revenue plans.
The Finance and Operations Director position is a key position within the organisation and integral to the future success of Codeclan. This role is best suited to an individual who is happy in a hands-on role and will gain a sense of fulfilment from the real, tangible impact their knowledge and experience will have on the organisation. The ideal candidate will thrive in a passionate and vibrant environment bringing excellent communication, organisational and IT skills and be able to demonstrate initiative and a can-do approach to all aspects of this business-critical role.
Developing the monthly management accounts packs and assisting with the budgeting and forecasting processes, this is a real opportunity to take ownership of and make your own stamp on a finance function. The successful candidate will also create procedures, metrics, KPIs, reports that align with the business’ direction and growth to steer the executive team to make well thought out and informed decisions
